About
Who writes DebtHitman
DebtHitman is written by Blane Jackson, DDS, MBA. It exists because the most effective ways to challenge a debt are written into federal law, and almost nobody tells consumers about them — while the companies that do charge hundreds of dollars for work you can do yourself in an afternoon.
So the tactics are published here in full, with the letters, for free.
What the expertise is — and what it isn't
What it is
- Graduate-level financial training (MBA) applied to consumer credit.
- Close reading of the specific statutes that govern collectors and credit bureaus, with each tactic traced back to the rule it relies on.
- Plain-language letters you can send yourself, at no cost.
What it isn't
- Not legal advice, and not a law firm. Nothing here creates an attorney–client relationship.
- Not a licensed financial-advisory service. A DDS and an MBA are not a securities, insurance, or credit-counseling license.
- Not a guarantee. Outcomes depend on your debt, your state, and the collector. If you are being sued, garnished, or weighing bankruptcy, talk to a consumer-protection attorney — many offer free consultations.
Every tactic cites the law it comes from
You do not have to take our word for any of it. These are the primary sources the guides are built on — read them yourself.
How this site makes money
Right now, it doesn't — and that is the point. The debt-relief industry runs on referral fees, which is why so much of its advice is bad. Here are the rules this site holds itself to.
- Every letter template and guide on this site is free. There is no paywall and no email requirement.
- We take no referral fees and send no one to debt-relief or debt-settlement companies.
- We carry no advertising and no affiliate links, so no third party influences what gets published.
- Every tactic cites the statute or regulation it relies on, so you can verify it yourself.
- This is educational information, not legal or financial advice, and not a substitute for an attorney.
Consumer-protection rules change. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and we correct errors when readers report them. No guide has been reviewed by an attorney; where a situation turns legal, we say so and point you to one. Found something wrong? hello@debthitman.com.
